In the recent conference with Nintendo, the almighty Satoru Iwata (CEO of Nintendo) has explained that the successor to their current console is well on the way. The down side to this meeting was that, there were no implentations of what this console will do or look like.

Nintendo are basically playing the safe card, so that what happened with the Wii doesn’t happen again. For the past 10 years Nintendo have been reigning in the console wars. They are just avoiding from other major console brands such as PlayStation and Xbox stealing their ideas. Nintendo are trying to avoid what is happening now with PlayStation’s “Move” and Xbox’s “Kinetic.”

Satoru explains that

“Unfortunately, the history of entertainment is also the history of imitation.

If a superb idea comes out, and it’s something you can’t protect with a patent, it will be copied immediately.”
